Sakura Y Memorial Scholarship is run by Japanese Philanthropists in coordination with Sandhani National Eye Donation Society(SNEDS) Bangladesh.Applications are invited in prescribed application forms from the new first year medical and dental students of session 2009-2010 studying in Dhaka Medical College,Sir Salimullah Medical College and Dhaka Dental College for Sakura Y Memorial Scholarship.
Terms and Conditions:
1. The criteria for nominating a student for Sakura Y memorial Scholarship will include Marks/Grade achieved in SSC & HSC examinations,family`s economic condition,occupation of parents,student`s participant in voluntary or social activities.
2. SNEDS will make a nomination committee to short-list the applications and to hold interviews with the applicants.Representatives from the nomination committee may visit the applicant`s family or further investigate to understand the claims of applicant`s financial or other situation.
3. The parents/Guardians of the recipient of the scholarship will be informed through a letter that their son/daughter is receiving Sakura Scholarship to meet all educational expenses and the concerned student should not have any problem in continuing studies if his/her parents/guardians do not provide any money to him.
4. The selected students will be recognized as Sakura Scholars,and two or three Sakura Scholars will be nominated each year from amongst the newly admitted students of the above mentioned 3 institutions.
5. The recipient of the scholarship will receive financial and other assistance for carrying out studies for the First one year which may be extended in subsequent years.
6. To continue getting scholarship ,the Sakura scholar must participate in the University(Professional)Examination in due time,and he/she should pass in the University Examinations regularly.This restriction can only be relaxed if he/she shows some valid medical reasons.
7. The selected Sakura scholar will draw scholarship money on monthly basis from the SNEDS headquarter located in Dhaka.
Applications Deadline: The prescribed application forms can be collected from SNEDS Headquarter or from its respective zonal office or the Sandhani unit of the respective college..Complete application forms should be submitted personally to SNEDS headquarter on or before July 17,2010.
